Saturday Night: David Farias

Main Come & Take It Celebration Stage Independence Square, Gonzales

Some musicians choose their instrument. David Farias grew up inside his. Raised in San Antonio as part of a family act, he started playing accordion as a child alongside his brothers, first as Los Hermanos Farias, then under the name that would define Tejano music for a generation, La Tropa F. The band's sound, built on the interplay of accordion and bajo sexto that defines conjunto music, carried them to a Tejano Music Award for Best Album of the Year in 1993, cementing Farias as part of one of the genre's defining family dynasties.

Sunday: Shiner Hobo Band

Beer Tent Independence Square, Gonzales

The Shiner Hobo Band performances are full of spontaneous laughs, surprise solos, and inside jokes between bandmates that somehow include the whole crowd. You'll hear their classic theme song, The Shiner Song, and polkas so lively they might get you dancing on your way to the beer line.
