This beloved annual tournament honors the memory of Lt. Col. Kenneth McGinty, Lt. Col. Robert Scheske, and J.R. Ryan, and benefits the Tommy Chenault and Kenny McGinty Scholarships. Teams of two will compete for prizes: $600 for 1st place, $400 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd, and $200 for 4th. The tournament is limited to the first 36 teams registered.

Racers can tackle this 13-mile downriver challenge on the Guadalupe, beginning just below the H-5 dam at Lake Wood Park and finishing at Santa Anna’s Ford, near the US 183 bridge in Independence Park.

The Come and Take It Parade features marching bands, dance teams, historic vehicles, horseback riders, local clubs and nonprofits, businesses, political candidates, youth groups, and a whole lineup of decorated floats and themed entries.

During Come and Take It weekend, this beautiful two-story Victorian home built in 1885 opens its doors for public tours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, showcasing handcrafted furniture, preserved architectural features, and stories spanning over a century of Texas life. Admission: $5 adults • $3 ages 8–18.

Get ready for a feathered frenzy at the annual Rotary Club Chicken Flying Contest: a Come and Take It crowd favorite! Whether you’re a seasoned handler or a first-time flinger, this sky-bound spectacle is fun for all ages. Free to watch, chickens available for rent for the contest.

The annual Battle of Gonzales Reenactment brings to life the historic clash that marked the official beginning of the Texas Revolution. Admission for this event and to explore the Pioneer Village grounds is $6/adults, $3/children (ages 5–12).

Back by popular demand, the Gonzales Noon Lions Club is proud to present Lions Bingo at the Come and Take It Celebration! This event brings the community together with high energy, great prizes, and classic Bingo fun.

The Shiner Hobo Band performances are full of spontaneous laughs, surprise solos, and inside jokes between bandmates that somehow include the whole crowd. You’ll hear their classic theme song, The Shiner Song, and polkas so lively they might get you dancing on your way to the beer line.
