La Tropa F: A Family Band That Became Tejano Royalty

Some bands are assembled. La Tropa F was raised. The group began in San Antonio as Los Hermanos Farias, a family act built on brothers who grew up playing music together, and that bond has been the heartbeat of the sound ever since.

The name changed, but the family did not. As La Tropa F, the group became one of the most recognizable names in Tejano music, blending polished showmanship with the accordion, bajo sexto, and keyboard-driven grooves that keep dance floors full. Their 1993 album Right On Track earned the Tejano Music Award for Album of the Year, and in 1997 they were named Showband of the Year.

Front and center is David Farias, whose voice and accordion have carried the band’s sound across a career spanning more than three decades. Alongside him, the Farias brothers bring the kind of chemistry that can’t be rehearsed: the kind that comes from a lifetime of making music together.
