Did you know the original Come and Take It flag of 1835 was made from fabric said to have come from a wedding dress?
The Gown to Glory Sewing Contest is back for its second year, challenging Texas youth in grades 3–12 to recreate that piece of history by transforming a used wedding gown into their own Come and Take It flag!
It’s part sewing contest, part history lesson, and a pretty incredible way to keep the story behind our flag alive.
We’re also accepting wedding dress donations! Dresses can be dropped off at the Gonzales County AgriLife Extension Office or 321 Pop-Up and will be available to contestants who need one.

$10 entry fee
Junior, Intermediate & Senior divisionsFinished entries will be displayed during the Come and Take It Celebration and contestants may even choose to put their flag in the silent auction and receive 50% of the sale price!
