Join us for the 2026 Come & Take It Memorial Golf Tournament at Gonzales Independence Golf Course. This annual tournament brings the community together for a day of golf, fellowship, and giving while honoring those who served our country and supporting educational opportunities for local students.
The tournament is held in memory of Gonzales County’s fallen Vietnam veterans and CFGA founders Lt. Col. Kenneth McGinty, Lt. Col. Robert Scheske, and J.R. Ryan.
Supporting Local Scholarships
Proceeds benefit The Community Foundation of the Gonzales Area (CFGA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarship opportunities for students in the Gonzales area through the Tommy Chenault Scholarship and Kenny McGinty Scholarship.

Tournament Details
Location: Gonzales Independence Golf Course
Registration: 7:30 a.m.
Following registration, participants will enjoy a welcome ceremony before the tournament tee off.
Team Information
- Two person scramble
- Limited to the first 27 teams
- Team entry fee: $300
- Entry fee includes golf cart, refreshments, breakfast tacos, BBQ lunch, and cold drinks.
Participants are welcome to bring their own beer or alcoholic beverages. No alcohol or beer will be provided or sold at the event.
Handicap Rules
- Maximum handicap: 15
- Seventy percent of the lowest team member’s handicap will be used.
- Players age 70 and older may tee off from the senior tees.
Tournament Prizes
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams.
- 1st Place: $600
- 2nd Place: $400
- 3rd Place: $300
- 4th Place: $200
Additional prizes will also be awarded.
Players may also purchase raffle tickets and participate in a 50/50 Split of the Pot drawing.
