A new “driving tour” was promoted by signs placed, put together by the Historic Homes Association and City. The T.N. Matthews/J.B. Wells House became a property of Daughters of the Republic of Texas. On October 18th, Guadalupe River flooded, crested at 50.44 feet. The Flood of ’98 affected many areas of Central Texas, including San Antonio and Cuero. It killed at least 25 people and caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damages across the Hill Country and in counties south and east of San Antonio. Read more at the Gonzales Inquirer article.
